STUDENTS DO TEEN DRAMA WITH “THE ROUGH”

Series to air on the HTVi website

HEMPSTEAD N.Y – A group of Hofstra University students wrote, directed and produced a 3-part web series titled “The Rough,” a new addition to the teen drama genre in the vein of the CW Network’s  “One Tree Hill.” The series follows Riley, Rob, Trish and Bryan, as they wade through the perils of high school, friendships and falling in love.

“The show has classic elements of the teen drama and we gave it an edge. The characters’ are a reflection of the actors who play them, so it worked out well,” says Rachel Allen, who wrote and produced “The Rough.” According to Allen, 22, the cast and crew were all friends, making for a fun-working environment when filming began as early as last summer.

The first episode will premiere at the HTVi Launch Party on May 3rd; following the event, ‘The Rough” will air on HTVi’s newly re-launched website htvinteractive.com on May 6th. Each new episode will air on a bi-weekly basis with the series as a whole being archived for viewing at any time

“I have not had any of my work go through the promotion process like this; this launch is big and very exciting,” says Colin Miller, the show’s director. Miller, 22, credits the cast and crew for a wonderful experience and awaits both the positive and negative feedback of the show.

The launch party is open to all Hofstra University staff and students and will be held in Studio A of the Dempster Hall School of Communication from 8:00 to 10:00 pm. For more information, visit the Facebook group titled “HTVi Launch Party” or contact htvinteractive@gmail.com

Launched in Fall 08’, HTV Interactive is Hofstra University’s Web Television Channel featuring student-produced film and television made specifically for the web.
